HOW DOES A WOOD BAT COMPARE TO A BESR METAL BAT?                ........improving your game with pro ash bats

Answer:  Maximum Performance of both are equal.  Key word being maximum.

Yes, we know that this will surprise most people, but this is a scientific fact.  Maybe not all that surpising omce understanding that the ball exit speed ratio is derived from the tests perfomed on a pro grade wood bat. 

What is different between the two is that the maximum performance can be reached with a much higher consistency with a besr certified metal bat than a pro grade wood bat.  This increased consistency is due to two main factors.

1. A much larger sweet spot on a metal bat.     2. Potentially faster bat speed with a metal bat.

Equal bat speed with ball contact in the sweet spot will produce pretty much the same results.  A metal bat generates higher batting averages, more home runs, and on average a higher ball speed of the bat beause it is far less frequent that a player can generate the same bat speed and hit the sweet spot with a wooden bat.

We admire any league that returns to the wooden bats to reveal the weak ground ball and returns a poorly hit homerun back to a fly ball out. 

Without question, risk of injury to players on the field is dramatically reduced and hitters will need to greatly improve their swing to maintain numbers anywhere close to those they acheived with a metal bat.
